This conference is for all parents and other people who love and care for kids including: Foster Parents, Grandparents, Adoptive Parents, Childcare Professionals, Teachers and YOU. Participants will receive a certificate for 4.5 training hours. The cost is $25.00 per person and lunch is included. Limited scholarships are available for Clinton County Parents. The registration deadline is FRIDAY, MARCH 3, 2018. REGISTER EARLY, SPACE IS LIMITED!

Presenter: Stephanie Grant, PhD, LPC
The session will explore what trauma is and how it can change a child’s development, with particular focus on neurological developments and the development of the stress response system. Additional information will be presented that will allow attendees to understand why many traditional child care/teaching strategies are not consistently effective with children with trauma histories and will provide suggestions on methods that are likely to be more helpful to the child and their healing process.
Workshops 12:15 – 2:30 p.m.
Participants will learn about having age appropriate materials and developmentally appropriate activities for Infants and toddlers. We will discuss best practices with infants and toddlers to support their development.
Workshop #2 The Benefits of Loose Parts in Play
Discover the world of Loose Parts. What are loose parts and how can they benefit children academically and socially. Get many ideas on how to incorporate loose parts into play.
Workshop presenters will provide an overview of their role and the types of services offered through CCRESA Early On and Special Education. Participants will learn about the characteristics of children that could be considered for referral and the steps from referral to qualifying for Early On or Special Education. General strategies for working with all children will be shared.
