Landscape Plantings for Wet Areas and Creating Rain Gardens Seminar
Date: April 14, 2016
Time: 6-8 p.m.
Location: Holt Junior High School, 1784 N. Aurelius Rd., Holt MI, 48842

Some home landscapes have poorly drained soils or are adjacent to ponds, lakes and streams. Participants will learn which plants to select that are adapted to grow in these situations and how you can make modifications to the area to provide better growing conditions. Although some of the same plants suitable for wet soils can be used in a rain garden, a wet site in a yard is not a good location for a rain garden. A rain garden site needs good drainage to encourage the infiltration of water into the soil, and to accommodate runoff water. This seminar will teach you where to put a rain garden, the basics of how to build one and the benefits of incorporating a rain garden into your landscape.
The seminar is open to the public and free of charge, but advance registration is encouraged. To register or for additional information about the program, call the Delhi Charter Township Department of Public Service at 517-699-3874.
