Lake Huron Place-Based Education Summer Teacher Institute
Date: August 8, 2016 - August 11, 2016
Location: Oscoda, Michigan
The Lake Huron Place-Based Education Summer Teacher Institute is designed so teachers:
- Make connections to the Great Lakes through Great Lakes Literacy
- Address and improve their understanding of Michigan’s education expectations through quality hands—on projects
- Meet the needs of the community and strengthen partnerships between schools and their community
This year, the Institute will again bring 20 teachers from southeast and northeast Michigan together to explore place-based education opportunities and make connections with resource professionals and established community projects. Participation stipends are provided for teachers in exchange for attending this professional development opportunity.
Using Oscoda, MI as the centralized hub for the 2016 institute, participants will be introduced to a wealth of projects supported in the northeast Michigan region supported through the network of the NE MI Great Lakes Stewardship Initiative.
More information specific to the 2016 Summer Institute will be posted at a later date! Learn more about GLSI professional development opportunities online.
