MSU Extension is a HUD and MSHDA certified agency that provides this educational program on homeownership for the first time home buyer or for anyone interested. This class provides an overview of what government programs are available to assist in purchasing a home, working with real estate agents and lenders, looking for a home, qualifying for loans and more. The classes are free. Participants will also receive a certificate of completion, which is required for some of the programs.
Topics covered include:
- The advantages of homeownership
- The steps in the home-buying process
- The costs of homeownership
- The importance of good credit
- How to determine how much house you can afford
- Mortgage loan basics
- How to maintain your investment
This is a two day class; Tuesday/Thursday, 1:00 PM – 4:00 p.m. Participants are required to attend the full six hours to receive their Certificate of Completion.
