Phil Tocco will be presenting on produce handling, including wash stations, on-farm and at the farmers market food safety and how to increase shelf-life. He will also be talking about digital record keeping in order to track your production and sales so you can figure out how you can work and produce more efficiently. Phil has been tracking the Food Safety Modernization Act and can share some best practices for dealing with requirements we may face and how to meet them in the context of a small farm. He will be able to answer questions as we go through the presentation so that you can have it be as applicable to your farm as possible.
Cost: FREE due to support from MSU Extension and grant funding from Project GREEEN. You aren’t going to get this training for free for long. This is a deal you shouldn’t pass up!
Where: Second Floor Kent ISD Classroom Room 203 at the Downtown Market (435 Ionia SW, GR)
Parking: The first 90 minutes are free in the Market’s parking lot, but after that it is $1 per half hour. You may be able to find some free on-street parking on Logan, Ionia or Buckley.
