Free Help for Struggling Homeowners Event

For individuals struggling to make mortgage payments, a free Help for Homeowners Event will take place on Thursday, May 15, at the Suburban Collection Showplace, 46100 Grand River, in Novi. Check out the flyer for the event here.

HOPE NOW, Making Home Affordable and several local, non-profit partners and state agencies are hosting this event that will allow homeowners to meet directly with their mortgage servicer and/or a HUD-approved housing counselor to find alternatives to foreclosure and to get information on other mortgage options.  

To better prepare you for the event, call 1-800-955-HOPE (4673) for free help preparing the following documents:

  • Request for Mortgage Assistance Form
  • IRS Form 4506T-EZ
  • Monthly mortgage statement
  • Information about any other mortgages
  • Two most recent pay stubs
  • If self-employed, most recent quarterly or year-to-date Profit and Loss statement
  • Documentation of income from all sources
  • Two most recent bank statements
  • Unemployment insurance letter, if applicable

Several local, HUD-approved non-profit counseling organizations will be on-site as well to advise homeowners, plus representatives from the following organizations will be there also:

  • Loan Scam Alert 
  • Making Home Affordable
