Eating Right is Basic

Rapid River Elementary students invite families and friends to a six-week family cooking series entitled Eating Right is Basic starting Feb. 11. Students are currently learning about nutrition from MSU Extension health educator, Tracie Abram. This series is an extended learning opportunity for students to further their learning. Students will be asked to help teach, and families will be cooking and preparing foods from each food group together.

Topics include:

  • Information and food demos on the five food groups
  • My Plate
  • Caloric balance
  • Serving sizes
  • Goal setting
  • Menu planning
  • Stretching your food dollars
