Dining with Diabetes

Dining with Diabetes is a five-session course designed for people at risk of diabetes or who have diabetes, as well as their family members. The first four sessions meet one a week, and the fifth session follows up three months later.

Through this class you will learn:

  • The causes of diabetes
  • Tools for managing diabetes
  • How to prepare healthy meals using less fat
  • How to make meals using less sodium and sugar without reducing flavor and enjoyment
  • The importance of diet and exercise in managing diabetes

You will also have the opportunity to sample a variety of healthy foods and take home recipes so that you can make them yourself.

Cost: $25 per person, $10 for second person sharing book

Dates: April 9, 16, 23 and 30, 2014 with fifth session on July 16

Time: 1 - 3 p.m.

Location: St. Andrew Episcopal Church, 525 Weiss St. Gaylord, MI 49735, at the corner of East Main Street (M-32) and Hayes Road. 

Participants should plan to attend all sessions
