Brock May has shown numerous national champions, ranging from prospect shows like the Badger Kick-Off Classic, to major accomplishments such as winning the American Royal three times! He was selected Reserve Champion in Denver in 2007, and wa named Grand Champion just four years later. In 2012 he won both Grand and Reserve Steer at the Wisconsin State Fair. Brock finished two years at Lincoln Land Community College in Springfield, IL, where he was a part of the judging team.
Chris Walker participated in 4-H for 8 years while raising steers and hogs born on his family farm. He started his own farrow-to-finish hog operation when he was in middle school and continues to operate the business today. His main goal is to provide his local 4-H youth with high quality pigs for show. He is currently in his fifth year at Michigan State University dual majoring in Biosystems Engineering and Animal Science. Chris was a member of the 2013 Meat Judging Team and has been a member of the university’s Block and Bridle Club since 2013.
Kevin Silverthorn is a 5th year senior at Michigan State University majoring in Animal Science with a minor in Agribusiness Management. He participated in 4-H for 11 years where he exhibited swine. He continued to strengthen his passion for raising livestock by farrowing his own sows, and selling show pigs for the young participants today. Kevin is a member of the MSU Livestock Judging Team and has competed at National shows across the country.
Julie Thelen currently serves as a Michigan State University Extension Educator. She believes in continual education and serves the state as the 4-H Livestock and Veterinary Science Educator focusing on the beef, sheep, swine, veterinary science and animal evaluation program areas. Julie enjoys working with youth and adults to increase agricultural literacy and to help people improve their lives.
