In association with Niles Main Street and Lake Michigan College, Michigan State University (MSU) Extension and Product Center Educators will conduct a food business planning class July 17 in Niles, Mich.
Whether you have dabbled with home-baked cookies under the Cottage Food Law, or dreamed about bottling grandma’s spaghetti sauce, food products are serious business. This session will deal with basic food processing, regulatory requirements, business development resources and related topics.
The MSU Product Center helps entrepreneurs and businesses to develop and launch new product and service ideas into food, agriculture, bioenergy and natural resources markets. A network of Innovation Counselors is available to counsel individuals interested in starting related business ventures.
MSU Extension educators Joanne Davidhizar and Mark Thomas will teach the session.
Cost: There is a $25 fee to attend a workshop that will help you start a successful small food business. Make checks payable to Niles Mainstreet, and mail to 210 E. Main St., Niles, MI 49120 by July 13.
