Cooking Matters for Child Care Professionals Cooking Matters for Child Care Professionals is a nutrition'' program that teaches child care professionals cooking, food safety, and food budgeting. The program is intended to empower providers to deliver nutritious meals and teach healthy eating habits to the children in their care.

Topics include:

  • •Creating Positive Mealtime Attitudes
  • •Safe Cooking With Confidence
  • •Choosing Healthy Foods for Kids
  • •Meals that appeal to Kids
  • •Menu Management on a Budget

This program is open to licensed childcare providers. This session is offered over the course of 2 Saturdays. *Attendance of both classes is required to obtain education credits for licensing. Session 1 is offered on January 23 from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. and Session 2 on February 6 from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. Cooking Matters for Childcare Professionals provides 10 hours of education credits for licensing. Class series are taught throughout the community, including but not limited to community centers, churches, schools and local Michigan State University Extension offices. Group series are available if there are six to 15 people, and at least half of the group is Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) eligible.
