Cooking Matters for Adults

A series of 7 classes co-taught under the SNAP-Ed nutrition program at MSU Extension by a nutrition instuctor and an experienced chef or cook. Each class includes a lesson related to healthy nutrition, stretching food dollars, helpful food preparation tips, everyone cooking and eating one or more dishes together, and then each one taking home ingredients to make one of the dishes prepared in class. One class will be at a local grocery store. Each participant receives a workbook with many recipes & kitchen tips along with various incentives during the course of the class.

On completion of the series of lessons, each participant will receive a certificate. Class is free and open to all.

SNAP-Ed programs especially aim to reach low-income families who may struggle to provide for the nutritional needs of their families but others may attend once program requirements are met. Call for more information and to register. Class will not be held for 3 weeks in December so that participants may attend to family needs over the holiday period.

(The class is located at 555 W. Cedar Ave., Gladwin, MI 48624, on the south side of the main street next to the County Sherriff and Marathon, basement.)
