Share Our Strength founded Cooking Matters for Teens teaches adolescents in 6th grade and above how to make healthy food choices and prepare healthy meals and snacks for themselves, their families and their friends.

Each of the Cooking Matters curricula uses the Dietary Guidelines for Americans and MyPlate as the foundation for basic nutrition guidelines, then builds on these ideas using interactive lessons to teach cooking, food safety, and food resource management.

There are typically six two-hour classes.  However, the classes can be divided up easily into shorter sessions with more meeting dates.  It can also be customized for audiences of different ages and abilities.
