Comprehensive Onsite Wastewater Management

MSU Extension is offering training for professionals who design, install and maintain septic systems and business owners and municipal people who use these systems.
The program will be offered on March 12-13, 2015 in Grand Rapids, Lansing, Novi and Gaylord. There are two sessions offered at each location:
- Key Ingredients of a Good Onsite System Treatment System (designed for providers new to the field or who would like a refresher)
- Onsite Wastewater Design & Management (for the more experienced professional who has completed the “Key Ingredients” course above)

- The Soil Component—- the HEARTBEAT of the onsite system.
- The Septic Tank & Its Function
- Pressure distribution vs Pump-and-dump
- Advanced Treatment
Who should attend?
The program is designed specifically for installers, inspectors, pumpers and maintenance providers new in the field of onsite wastewater treatment or those that would like a refresher. It will cover the basics of soil-based systems, with an emphasis on the soil component. Even the experienced individual will be presented material that will add subject knowledge.
ONSITE WASTEWATER TREATMENT DESIGN AND MANAGEMENT

- Onsite System Site Selection and Analysis
- Use of Flow Equalization
- Alternative/Advanced Treatment Technologies
- High Strength Wastewater (restaurants, grocery stores, etc.)
- Designing for Nutrient Removal
- System Management Programs
Who should attend?
The program is designed with designers, installers, inspectors maintenance providers, and regulators who have completed the Key Ingredients course. The class is also appropriate for the more experienced professional who is actively involved in the design, construction, management, and regulation of larger, advanced treatment systems.
Grand Rapids will serve as our host site for these trainings. In addition, we are able to provide trainings to the additional locations below through a satellite broadcast. Each satellite location will have a local host to help ensure your questions are answered and that you can be involved in all class discussions. The satellite discussions include visual and audio interaction with the speakers.
The sessions on both days will begin with registration at 8:30 a.m. and end with a wrap-up around 5 p.m. Materials are included for attendees. Beverages, snacks and lunch will not be provided. Attendees are welcome to bring drinks and snacks for the days. Time will be permitted for attendees to go get lunch.
REGISTRATION FEES AND DISCOUNTS
The cost to attend a single class is $100 or you can attend both days for $180.
If more than one person from the same company/agency is registering, deduct $10 per person.

Registration fees are refundable, less a $20.00 cancellation fee up until 10 days prior to the class. After that date, refunds will no longer be available.Registrations may be transferred to another attendee. MSU Extension reserves the right to cancel a training event when there are insufficient attendees. In this case, a full refund will be provided to each attendee.
