In this workshop series led by Kara LaMarre (Area Agency on Aging) and Carolyn Penniman (MSU Extension), participants learn strategies to manage pain and live a healthier, more enjoyable life. They also gain confidence in their ability to cope with other physical and emotional symptoms common to many chronic conditions, such as loss of mobility and independence, frustration, anger, depression and fatigue.
The six-week program provides many ideas and different techniques to help them better manage pain and the consequences of pain. Many people also learn new ways to pace themselves around activity and rest. Registration is required by March 11; there is no cost to attend, but a limited number of spaces are available. Participants should plan to attend all six sessions, meeting weekly March 14 to April 18, 1–3:30 p.m. at the Diocese of Gaylord, 611 W. North St. It is open to any adult who has chronic pain and would like to learn about ways to manage it.
