Chronic Pain PATH is designed to benefit adults with chronic pain to help manage their health conditiona and live a healthier, more enjoyable life. Participants will: challenge myths about dealing with pain, learn techniques to deal with frustration/fatigue/isolation/poor sleep, pace themselves around activity and rest, learn how to excercise appropriately to maintain or improve strength and endurance, use medication appropriately and work effectively with family and with health care providers. Family members, friends, and caregivers are also encouraged to attend the workshop Individual studies have shown that program participants experience improved symptom management, better communication with physicians, a greater sense of self-efficacy, increased physical activity, and better general health compared to those who had not participated in the workshop. Those are just some of the potential benefits.
