The Michigan Cooperative Development Program, in cooperation with the Ohio Employee Ownership Center at Kent State and the Center for Community Based Enterprise (C2BE) will host a one-day workshop at the Kent County Extension office in Grand Rapids, Michigan on September 28, 2016.
This workshop will provide information for professionals who work with individuals or businesses interested in developing worker owned cooperatives or converting to employee ownership. Michigan State University Extension and outreach personnel, economic development agents, service providers, and other practitioners are among those invited to attend. The seminar will provide attendees a working knowledge of the various types of worker cooperatives and employee owned businesses, the basic steps of their development processes, and resources to help them match their client’s needs.
The Center for Community Based Enterprise staff, who specialize in worker-owned cooperatives and employee ownership, have helped organize this event. Presenters include attorneys Deborah Groban Olson, Michael Friedman, Paul Chander and Terry Lewis, an experienced co-op banker and developer. Roy Messing of Kent State’s Ohio Employee Ownership Center will also present a session.
There is no cost to attend, but pre-registration is required. A lunch will be provided.
