Weiss Centennial Farm is a 60 cow dairy in Michigan’s Thumb area. The farm owners recently installed a biomass heating system and milking parlor energy conservation equipment. The biomass heating system uses radiant heat from a gasifier to heat buildings on the farm and provide hot water for sanitary purposes in the milking parlor. Topics that will be discussed include robotic milkers, biomass heating design and control system, obtaining milking parlor energy efficiencies, and sources of funding available to implement energy conservation practices. At the conclusion of the field day, lunch will be served to attendees. After lunch, families are invited to go through the farm’s corn maze. There is no charge for the field day, lunch or the corn maze activity, however we are asking that everyone coming to the field day and those individuals wanting to go through the corn maze complete the online registration.

Onsite check-in will begin at 9:30 a.m., with the program starting at 10 a.m. The field day will conclude after lunch.
