Dr. Dave Smitely, MSU Entomology, will discuss current and past biocontrol practices for greenhouse production and biocontrol pitfalls. As an example, Dr. Smitley will share the results of experiments that were performed at a local greenhouse by releasing two predatory mites, Amblyseius cucumeris and Hypoaspis miles, for western flower thrips control on gerbera daisy and mum crops. Finally, Smitley and local grower will be able to answer any questions about biocontrol practices.
