The Michigan 4-H Renewable Energy Camp is a five-day pre-college program held at Michigan State University (MSU) that explores ideas, research and opportunities in the field of energy as it relates to natural resources and agriculture. Youth will work with leading researchers at MSU who are developing the latest innovations in biofuel production and technology that offer alternatives to fossil-based fuels. Youth will also get the opportunity to visit companies that are taking the latest discoveries of science and turning them into real products that impact our local communities and even the world. This is a fun and interactive camp that will allow youth to conduct experiments, ask questions and problem-solve new ideas. Youth will learn how to make their own biofuel using resources around them. They will also learn about how new bioenergy crops are produced and converted into useable energy. This camp will explore various renewable energy sources and their application to our families, Michigan and the world. Three primary tracks will be offered focusing on wind energy, solar energy, and bioenergy.  Youth will be exposed to each area but will choose one track to provide heightened experiences with the renewable energy that intrigues them the most.  Youth will also earn a digital badge for the knowledge they learn and apply within their renewable energy track.
