The Kent/MSU Extension 4-H Youth Development Program strives to provide non-formal learning experiences for youth. Our educational endeavors reach a broad mix of youth, encompass all ethnic diversities and socio-economic groups, and work with people in varied settings from urban to suburban to agricultural.
As part of our educational programming, the Kent/MSU Extension 4-H program will be partnering with the MSU Extension Master Gardener program at the West Michigan Home & Garden Show at DeVos Place in downtown Grand Rapids. Together we are featuring several activities for children which tie into the theme “Tree-mendous Trees.” Children will participate in a scavenger hunt, identify trees through their characteristics and create a piece of art and plant a tree seed to take home with them!
Your first through fifth grade classroom could participate on March 4 in a Friday morning educational field trip opportunity between the hours of 9:00 AM and noon. If interested, please contact Jan Foxen at 616-682-4768. These educational field trip slots fill up very quickly; don’t delay in calling if you are interested in having your class participate on Friday morning. Your class must be confirmed by Jan in order to participate. We are not able to accommodate groups that arrive unexpectedly.
We are very excited to partner with the West Michigan Home & Garden Show, West Michigan Environmental Academy and the MSU Extension Master Gardener program to provide an educational opportunity to you and your students. Thank you for considering this enrichment activity to add to your students’ classroom experiences.
