Showcase your engineering skills this summer at the 4-H Robotics Challenge!
The first regional 4-H Robotics Challenge will take place on Wednesday, July 16, from 4 to 7:30 p.m. at the Barry County Fair. The Challenge is a real-time robotics challenge. Teams of 3-5 youth (one of which must be a 4-H member), ages 9-19, will have two hours to design, build, and program a robot for their chosen challenge. Youth can participate in two different challenges. The Junk Drawer Challenge will test engineering and teamwork skills when teams are asked to build a robot out of everyday materials (cardboard, paper clips, popsicle sticks, etc) that can complete a basic task.
No prior programming knowledge required! Teams may also participate in either an advanced or intermediate LEGO Mindstorms Challenge to build and program a robot using the LEGO Mindstorms NXT or EV3 platforms. Teams registering for the LEGO Mindstorms Challenge must have prior experience with LEGO Mindstorms platforms prior to the event. Information about the 4-H Robotics Challenge and registration forms can be found at http://eatoncounty4h.blogspot.com/p/regional-robotics-challenge.html. Don’t wait to sign up—pre-registration forms are due by June 11 and the LEGO Mindstorms Challenge is first come, first serve for the first 10 teams! There is no team limit for the Junk Drawer Challenge.
