Webinars are the third Thursday of February, April, June, August, October and December from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Each session is available individually or participants can register for all six at once. MCPs will earn one hour of continuing education per webinar.
2018 Topics include:
- Planning for Agricultural Lands in the New Economy - August 16 - Wendy Walker, Esq.; Agriculture is a dynamic industry experiencing demands and opportunities that impact why and how local decision-makers should protect working lands. This webinar will explore the importance of agricultural land use policies in the mutually beneficial relationship between resilient rural areas and sustainable cities and towns.
- Land Division Basics for Planning and Zoning Officials - October 18 - David Rowley; Splitting or dividing land may be considered an important part of the growth and economic development of a local community. While land division is generally an assessing function, this webinar will provide an overview of the division process for other local officials. Topics will include a discussion of the various types of divisions and some suggestions for local planning or zoning officials to consider when they are reviewing a development project.
- The Redevelopment Ready Communities Program - December 20 - Harmony Gmazel, AICP; Administered by the MEDC, the Redevelopment Ready Communities® (RRC) program is available to communities across the state. It’s a voluntary, no-cost certification program designed to promote effective redevelopment strategies through a set of best practices. The program measures and certifies communities that integrate transparency, predictability and efficiency into their daily development practices. The RRC certification is a formal recognition that your community has a vision for the future - and the fundamental practices in place to get there. This webinar will take you step by step through the process for getting Redevelopment Ready.
Cost per webinar: $10 for MCPs; $20 for Regular Registrants
