With the arrival of autumn, we are excited to announce our annual Fall Bulb Event and MSU Extension Grand Ideas Garden fundraiser which will be held on Oct. 21st at the MSU Extension Office in Grand Rapids.  This event includes an educational program and bulb sale.

Extend your Garden Season with Colorful Bulbs!
Learn how to enjoy rich color from bulbs from spring through autumn while inviting pollinators to your garden.   Early season bulbs such as Crocus and Allium provide amazing color while enhancing floral resources for native bees and pollinators.  Spring comes to life with daffodils and colorful tulips, yet beauty from bulbs does not end here.  Come explore a rich pallet of interest and seasonal color that may surprise you! 

Class Details:  Saturday October 21 from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. OR 10:15 - 11:15 a.m. (When purchasing bulbs, you must select one class even if you cannot attend.) 

Re-certified Ext. Master Gardeners may count one hour of education credit for the class attended.

The 2017 bulb sale features twice as many cultivars as last year with a strong emphasis on bulbs that support pollinators.  Many of you have observed the strong connection with Allium cultivars and native pollinators.  Because of their long bloom season, Allium offer nectar and pollen resources to dozens of types of bees.  Other great pollinator plants include Crocus and native cultivars of Erythronium (trout lily) and Camassia (quamash).  We hope you like the choices the team made this year!! 

Details for Bulb order pick up:  Saturday Oct. 21st from 9 a.m. - noon  (Bulbs that are not picked up at the MSU Extension office by Tuesday Oct. 24th will be planted in the GIG!!)

Class registration and Bulb Order Payments:

  • Online registrations and orders must be completed by Oct. 19 or earlier.
  • Your class seat and purchases are not reserved until full payment is received and processed by MSU.
  • Your registration/order will be canceled if payment in full is not received within 5 business days of your registration or by Oct. 19th which ever is sooner.
    • Check Due Date: Oct. 14, 2017
    • Credit Card Due Date:  October 19, 2017 
  • You have the option of canceling your registration and order at any time.  Refunds will be issued per the Refund Policy.

 Refund Policy

  • A full refund, less a $10 processing fee, will be issued for any order cancelled prior to October 14th.
  • No refund will be issued for any order cancelled on or after October 14th.
