16-Hour ServSafe Kent County

Earn ServSafe® certification with help from MSU Extension. MSU Extension offers 16-hour ServSafe® training, which is a national certification program.

Participants must complete the entire course and receive a 75% score on the exam to earn a certificate.

Registration Information: The cost of the 16-hour course is $145 per person plus the ServSafe Manager 6th edition book (purchased separately –not included in the registration fee). You must have a  ServSafe Manager 6th edition book that contains an answer sheet to take the exam.

Purchase your book at least 5 business days before the start of class or plan to purchase your book onsite. This book includes the answer sheet which is required in order to take the exam.

Classes are taught by MSU Extension educators, who are certified instructors and exam proctors through the National Restaurant Association.

This class is designed for anyone working in the food service industry, including non-profit organizations. The ServSafe course helps prepare you for the ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification exam

Training covers:

  • Providing Safe Food Forms of Contamination
  • The safe food handler
  • The flow of food: Purchasing, receiving, storing, preparation, food service
  • Food safety management systems
  • Safe facilities, cleaning and sanitizing

Food: No food or drink is provided so feel free to bring your own drink or snack to the class. We will break around noon for lunch.
