When calling the 1-888-678-3464 number, please make sure to choose Option #1 (during growing season) and Option #2 (during off season) for the Lawn and Garden Hotline.
Option #1 - Growing Season (April – September): The Hotline is open on Tuesdays from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon and 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. and on Wednesdays from 9:00 a.m.to 12:00 noon in Kent County.
Option #2 - Off Season (October – March): The Hotline is open on Tuesdays only from 9 a.m. to noon in Kent County.
The Kent County Extension office charges a $5 Diagnostic Fee for analyzing a specimen.

Home – Owner Soil Test Kit
Available at Kent Office to purchase for $ 25 or order online from MSUE Bookstore – Bulletin E-3154. If you order online through the MSUE Bookstore, you can use credit card. If purchased at the office, you’ll need cash or check.
Commercial Soil Testing
Soil boxes for sample collection CANNOT be ordered on-line but can be purchased at the office at a cost of $12 each. You’ll receive a Soil Sample Information form to complete and send with your samples to the MSU Soil and Plant Nutrient Laboratory.
