Alpena County Horse Development Committee (HDC) Schedule

All meetings are held the first Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. in the MSU Extension conference room. Any 4-H member in a horse project is an HDC member. You are welcome to attend all meetings.

Market Sale Guidelines

Alpena County 4-H Market Club

Remember to enroll in 4-H by March 1, 2016

Meeting Dates:  Third (3rd) Tuesday of the month in the Merchant’s Building on the Alpena County Fairgrounds.

Tuesday, March 15 @ 6pm

Tuesday, April 19 @ 6pm

Tuesday, May 17 @ 6pm

Tuesday, June 21 @ 6pm

Tuesday, July 19 @ 6pm

If you are planning to market livestock at the 2016 Alpena County Fair, you n eed to be a member of the Market Club.

4-H members must attend at least three (3) of the five (5) market club meetings in order to be eligible to sell in the 2015 Alpena County 4-H Market Animal Sale. This club does not substitute a 4-H member from participating in their regular 4-H club. You must be a member of your regular 4-H club and the market club. Topics such as market sale rules, proper show techniques, pen displays, buyer thank you notes and more will be discussed at these meetings. Alpena County Plat Books are sold at the following locations:

  • Alpena County MSU Extension Office - Alpena County Fairgrounds - 11th St. - Alpena
  • Alpena County Equalization Department - 720 W. Chisholm - Alpena County Courthouse - Alpena
  • Beaver Lake Service Center - 9543 M-65 S. - Lachine

We also have Alcona ($25) and Presque Isle ($28) County Plat Books available. 

Plat books can be mailed - Shipping/handling cost is $5 additional.
